Depending on the applicant’s circumstances; there are eight different visa options to choose from:
- Subclass 117 and 837 Orphan Relative Visa (Permanent): This visa is for children under 18 years old and have no parents in their home country to care for them. They need to be sponsored by family relatives who are Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens in Australia.
- Subclass 114 and 838 Aged Dependent Relative Visa (Permanent): This visa is for applicants at their senior age (above 65 years). They must depend on their relative in Australia for basic needs like food, shelter, and clothing for at least the past three years before the visa application. They need to be sponsored by a family or relative who is an Australian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or an Eligible New Zealand citizen in Australia.
- Subclass 836 and 116 Carer visa (Permanent): This visa is for applicants who have relatives or their family member live in Australia and require the applicant to provide substantial ongoing care and continuing support to them. The person who receives care from applicants must demonstrate they have no access to care anywhere in Australia.
- Subclass 115 and 835 remaining relative visas (Permanent): This visa is for applicants defined as ‘remaining relative’ overseas. They must have all their parents, siblings, and children live in Australia as permanent residents or Australian citizens. The visa applicants must be sponsored by an eligible parent or step-parent, sibling or step-sibling, or an eligible partner of the relative.
